Special Issue-2024
DEADLINE: October 31, 2024
“Sustainable Agriculture and Product Development”
There is an increasing awareness of the importance of food and the way it is produced and transformed until it reaches our homes. Because it is one of the main factors that generate health or disease outcomes in individuals, their families, communities, localities, countries, and the whole planet and the repercussions involved in it; i.e. the systemic interconnection of everything and everyone. When we decide to stop the disease and decrease the statistics of western diseases, it always invites to turn to see how food is produced and how it is consumed. In this way, faced with a world increasingly in conflict to decide the ways of survival and coexistence. The following special issue is proposed “Sustainable Agriculture and Product Development.” Thus, proposals for sustainable agriculture, the development of products that allow their improvement and post-harvest transformation and utilization, etc. with beneficial impact on the communities that produce them in particular and on society in general will be welcomed.
Utilizing cutting-edge techniques, procedures, frameworks, and farming supplies to enhance soil health, reduce water usage, and lessen pollution on farms, and that have an impact on stopping destructive processes of the soil, the environment, and consequently the current and future production of our food will be of interest for this special edition. Likewise, different sustainable approaches to supporting sustainable agriculture such as biophysical methods, electromagnetism, laser, led diodes, UV radiation, bioactive compounds, hybrid methods for seed improvement, etc. will also be considered.
Addressing food insecurity, design of nutraceutical foods with lower postprandial response and post-harvest utilization, managing food waste, biofuels, managing dairy waste, organic farming, technological innovation in agriculture, managing water quality and use efficiently, zero-emission freight transport, and developing systems and products for innovative agriculture are just a few of the topics covered.

Dra. C. Hernandez-Aguilar is a professor-researcher of the National Polytechnic Institute, within the Graduate Program in Systems Engineering of ESIME-Zacatenco. Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the National System of Researchers (México). International distinction as a member of the Editorial Committee of the journal: International Agrophysics (period:2012-present). Coordinator of the graduate programs in systems engineering (period 2012-2017 and 2023 - today). Creator and leader of the research group on Biophysical systems for agriculture, food, and medicine with a Transdisciplinary approach. Main contributions related to methods for improvement and quality evaluation of agricultural seeds and food. Among other methods: laser radiation, electromagnetic field (fixed and variable), ultraviolet radiation (A-B-C), infrared, LED diodes, ozone, and natural. In addition, the researcher proposes the design of products using nutraceuticals such as turmeric, moringa, lentil sprouts, spiruline, etc., and foods with low postprandial response as strategic measures in the prevention of metabolic syndrome diseases. Working to create a culture for its consumption to improve the health of the population. Concerned and occupied in improving the quality of life of society. Trainer of researchers in the last 17 years, making a call to conscience, to rescue a human attitude in the research process and the impact obtained from it. Motto: Transform yourself, to transform your world.
